href=\"https:\/\/www.smolio.ch\/en\/wissen\/ahv-full-pension-and-ahv-maximum-pension-ahv-partial-pension\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.smolio.ch\/wissen\/ahv-vollrente-und-ahv-maximalrente-ahv-teilrente\/\">AHV pension<\/a>, you will also receive the 13th pension. This applies to everyone who receives an AHV pension in a given year. <\/p>\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">Imagine Lisa, who has just turned 64 and is drawing her first AHV pension. She is delighted that she will automatically receive her 13th AHV pension from December 2026. So you don\u2019t have to do anything special \u2013 when you receive an AHV pension, the 13th pension will land in your account all by itself.  <\/p>\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">It doesn\u2019t matter whether you were employed or self-employed. As long as you meet the requirements for an AHV pension, you are also entitled to the \u201cthirteenth\u201d. <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-adf63f6\" id=\"wie-hoch-ist-die-13-ahv-rente\" data-block-id=\"adf63f6\"><h2 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\">How high is the 13th AHV pension?<\/h2><\/div>\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">The supplement is one twelfth of the amount of the annual retirement pension. The amount of the 13th retirement pension is based on the sum of the monthly pensions paid out to the entitled persons within a calendar year.<sup data-fn=\"e22ebe7a-c2f2-4aa1-aaad-7b32e55a6fb3\" class=\"fn\"><a id=\"e22ebe7a-c2f2-4aa1-aaad-7b32e55a6fb3-link\" href=\"#e22ebe7a-c2f2-4aa1-aaad-7b32e55a6fb3\">1<\/a><\/sup> That sounds simple, but how much is your annual pension?   <\/p>\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">In principle, the monthly retirement pensions actually paid out to an individual or a married couple\/registered couple are added together and one twelfth of this sum is granted as the 13th retirement pension. As these can change several times in the course of a year (e.g. due to a change in marital status, early withdrawal or deferral of the pension or the start of the pension for the first time), the compensation offices carry out an annual calculation of all monthly pensions paid out in order to determine the sum of the pensions actually paid. The amount of the 13th old-age pension is then calculated on this basis. Incidentally, the widow(er)\u2019s supplement is also included in the calculation of your annual old-age pension.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"wie-oft-wird-die-13-ahv-rente-pro-jahr-ausgezahlt\">How often is the 13th AHV pension paid out each year?<\/h2>\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">You will receive your 13th AHV pension <em>once<\/em> a year, in December. The first payment date is in December 2026. This is an additional bonus on top of your monthly pension. This form of payment was supported by a clear majority in the consultation process.   <\/p>\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">The annual payout gives you more financial leeway. This can be particularly helpful at the end of the year, when expenses are often higher. You don\u2019t have to wait for extra money every month. Instead, you can look forward to a larger amount at the end of the year.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"was-passiert-wenn-ich-vor-der-auszahlung-der-13-ahv-rente-sterbe\">What happens if I die before the 13th AHV pension is paid out?<\/h2>\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">That\u2019s the catch with the annual payout in December. Unfortunately, there will be no payout to your heirs if you die before December. The entitlement to the 13th pension expires on the month of death. This makes sense, because the aim of the 13th AHV pension is to improve the financial situation of old-age pensioners and not the financial situation of their heirs.<\/p>\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">So if you die between January and November, the 13th AHV pension for that year will no longer be paid out. In this case, the money remains with the AHV. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"wie-wird-die-13-ahv-rente-finanziert\">How is the 13th AHV pension financed?<\/h2>\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">The question of how the 13th AHV pension will be financed has not yet been fully clarified. This means that there is still no final regulation on how the money for this additional pension will be provided.
