your pensions will be.\nThe AHV reform will take effect on January 1, 2024, but there will be few changes to the 2024 key pension figures.\nFind out what is changing and how much you can deduct from class=\"stk-block-heading__text\"><strong>In the 1st pillar, the maximum AHV pension will remain unchanged in 2024  <\/strong><\/h2><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-79edf2a\" data-block-id=\"79edf2a\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">Every two years, the Federal Council examines whether the AHV and IV pension levels need to be adjusted due to price and wage developments.\nThis time there will be no increase in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smolio.ch\/en\/wissen\/ahv-full-pension-and-ahv-maximum-pension-ahv-partial-pension\/\">AHV maximum pension<\/a>.\nAs a reminder, the pension was increased by CHF 720 on January 1, 2023 to take account of higher inflation.    <\/p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-5ef249f\" data-block-id=\"5ef249f\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">How will the AHV pension be increased in 2024?\nThe maximum AHV pension 2024 will remain unchanged at CHF 29,400 per year from 1.1.2024.\nIn order to receive this, you must have earned an average of at least CHF 88,200 for 44 years and\/or have received childcare credits that put you above this average.\nYes, that\u2019s a lot and unfortunately not everyone earns enough to reach this figure.\nBut it\u2019s still true \ud83d\ude41    <\/p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-8151ce6\" data-block-id=\"8151ce6\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">The minimum old-age pension 2024 from January 1, 2024 remains unchanged at CHF 1,225 per month.\nThe maximum AHV pension for 2024 with a full contribution period also remains unchanged.\nIt will remain at CHF 2,450 per month.\nThe maximum AHV spouse\u2019s pension from January 1, 2024 will be CHF 3,675 (= CHF 2,450 * 1.5) due to the cap.   <\/p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-e560380\" id=\"kein-ausserordentlicher-teuerungsausgleich-der-ahv-renten\" data-block-id=\"e560380\"><h3 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\">No extraordinary inflation adjustment for AHV pensions<\/h3><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-9c69071\" data-block-id=\"9c69071\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">On February 22, 2023, the Federal Council <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsv.admin.ch\/bsv\/de\/home\/publikationen-und-service\/medieninformationen\/nsb-anzeigeseite.msg-id-92733.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gave in to<\/a> the will of Parliament.\nA centrist motion called for the purchasing power of pensioners to be strengthened with a one-off additional increase due to the higher inflation rate.\nHowever, the motion was narrowly rejected by both the National Council and the Council of States in the spring session of 2023.  <\/p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-759feaa\" id=\"b-strong-ei-tod-von-mutter-oder-vater-nach-der-kindsgeburt-strong-bekommt-der-uberlebende-zwei-wochen-mehr-urlaub\" data-block-id=\"759feaa\"><h3 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\"><strong>If the mother or father dies after giving birth<\/strong>, the survivor receives two weeks more leave<\/h3><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-8db9eb8\" data-block-id=\"8db9eb8\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">The death of a parent immediately after birth is a severe blow.\nFortunately, this rarely happens today.\nNevertheless, from January 1, 2024, the surviving parent has a two-week extended paid leave entitlement.\nThe mother\u2019s wife will also be recognized as a legal parent when \u201cmarriage for all\u201d comes into force in 2022.\nShe will therefore be entitled to paternity leave and paternity pay:    <\/p><\/div>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" data-block-type=\"core\">\n<li data-block-type=\"core\">If the child\u2019s mother dies within 14 weeks of the birth, the father (or the mother\u2019s wife) is entitled to 14 weeks\u2019 leave in addition to the two weeks\u2019 paternity leave, which must be taken without interruption immediately after the death.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li data-block-type=\"core\">If the father (or the mother\u2019s wife) dies within six months of the birth of the child, the mother is also entitled to two additional weeks\u2019 leave<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-81e525f\" data-block-id=\"81e525f\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">The Federal Council <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smolio.ch\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=6636&action=edit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">approved<\/a> this amendment to the Income Compensation Act with effect from January 1, 2024 at the end of November 2023.<\/p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-e007151\" id=\"zwei-ahv-initiativen-kommen-im-marz-zur-abstimmung\" data-block-id=\"e007151\"><h2 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\">Two AHV initiatives will be put to the vote in March<\/h2><\/div>\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">On October 25, 2023, the Federal Council <a href=\"https:\/\/www.admin.ch\/gov\/de\/start\/dokumentation\/medienmitteilungen.msg-id-98355.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">decided<\/a> that we would vote on two AHV issues on March 3, 2024:<\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" data-block-type=\"core\">\n<li data-block-type=\"core\">Popular initiative of May 28, 2021 \u201cFor a better life in old age (initiative for a 13th AHV pension)\u201d  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li data-block-type=\"core\">Popular initiative of July 16, 2021 \u201cFor a secure and sustainable pension scheme (pension initiative)\u201d  <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">The Federal Council and parliament recommend that both popular initiatives be rejected.\nThe Swiss Federation of Trade Unions (SGB) is behind the first initiative \u201cFor a better life in old age\u201d.\nIt is calling for a 13th monthly pension for AHV pensioners, i.e. an increase in AHV benefits.\nAnd the Young Finns want to link the retirement age to average life expectancy with their initiative \u201cFor secure and sustainable old-age provision\u201d.\nThis would initially raise the retirement age for men and women to 66.\nSubsequently, the retirement age would rise by 0.8 months for every month of additional life expectancy.       <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-8d339a8\" id=\"die-ahv-21-reform-tritt-per-1-januar-2024-in-kraft\" data-block-id=\"8d339a8\"><h3 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\">The AHV21 reform comes into force on January 1, 2024<\/h3><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-7bc0462\" data-block-id=\"7bc0462\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">From 2024, there will no longer be a \u201cretirement age\u201d in old-age and survivors\u2019 insurance.\nThis term will be replaced by the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smolio.ch\/wissen\/ordentliches-rentenalter-schweiz\/\">reference age<\/a>\u201c.\nThis expresses the fact that the aim is to make the retirement age more flexible.  <\/p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-4d4ce5d\" data-block-id=\"4d4ce5d\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">The Federal Council decided on the entry into force of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smolio.ch\/en\/wissen\/ahv-reform-2021-what-ahv-21-means-for-women-and-men\/\">AHV21 reform<\/a> at its meeting on December 9, 2022.\nFrom 2024, you will be able to organize your transition to retirement more flexibly.\nIn particular, you can bring forward part of your AHV and occupational pension and defer the rest.    <\/p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-a6c4b4d\" data-block-id=\"a6c4b4d\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">In href=\"https:\/\/www.arbeit.swiss\/dam\/secoalv\/de\/dokumente\/publikationen\/broschueren\/stellensuchende\/Merkblaetter\/Merkblatt_AHV-Reform_DE.pdf.download.pdf\/Merkblatt_AHV-Reform_DE.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">changes<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arbeit.swiss\/dam\/secoalv\/de\/dokumente\/publikationen\/broschueren\/stellensuchende\/Merkblaetter\/Merkblatt_AHV-Reform_DE.pdf.download.pdf\/Merkblatt_AHV-Reform_DE.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the AHV<\/a> retirement age.\nFor them, the reference age will gradually increase (2025, 2026, 2027, 2028) by three months per year.\nThe first cohort (1960) will not yet see an increase in the retirement age on January 1, 2024; for the 1961 cohort, the retirement age will be 64 years and 3 months from January 1, 2025, etc. Entitlement to the AHV retirement pension begins on the first day of the month following the date on which the reference age is reached.\nThe pension is reduced if it is drawn earlier    <\/p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-e587fd9\" id=\"wie-entwickeln-sich-die-beitrage-der-selbststandigen-und-nichterwerbstatigen-zur-ahv\" data-block-id=\"e587fd9\"><h3 class=\"stk-block-heading__text stk-block-heading--use-theme-margins\">How are the contributions of self-employed and non-employed persons to the AHV developing? How does this loss of income come\u2026<\/p>\n<\/div><a class=\"stk-block-posts__readmore has-text-color\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smolio.ch\/en\/wissen\/how-much-money-does-a-pensioner-need-in-switzerland-having-enough-to-make-ends-meet-in-retirement\/\">Continue Reading<\/a><\/article><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"stk-inner-blocks\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-aaf7362\" id=\"strong-in-der-2-saule-steigt-der-mindestzins-auf-1-25-strong\" data-block-id=\"aaf7362\"><h2 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\"><strong>In the 2nd pillar, the minimum interest rate rises to 1.25 %<\/strong><\/h2><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-3bce18f\" data-block-id=\"3bce18f\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">The maximum AHV pension in 2024 is the key figure for the 2024 key pension figures.\nOther occupational pension figures are linked to it via fixed formulas and ratios.\nThe expected BVG pensions and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsv.admin.ch\/dam\/bsv\/de\/dokumente\/bv\/anleitungen\/wichtige-masszahlen2021-2022-bv.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BVG key figures<\/a> for 2024 will therefore also change.    <\/p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-a2b5cde\" data-block-id=\"a2b5cde\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">The Federal Council must review the level of the <strong>minimum interest rate <\/strong>at least every two years.<strong> <\/strong>You may already know that the minimum interest rate only applies to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smolio.ch\/en\/wissen\/compulsory\/\">mandatory<\/a> assets.\nIn the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smolio.ch\/en\/wissen\/extra-mandatory-extra-mandatory-benefits\/\">extra-mandatory scheme<\/a>, your pension fund itself determines how much interest it pays on your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smolio.ch\/en\/wissen\/retirement-assets\/\">retirement assets<\/a>.   <\/p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-fb4345b\" data-block-id=\"fb4345b\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">The <strong>minimum interest rate <\/strong>for BVG assets will increase to <strong>1.25 % <\/strong>from January 1, 2024 <strong>. <\/strong>This was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsv.admin.ch\/bsv\/de\/home\/publikationen-und-service\/medieninformationen\/nsb-anzeigeseite.msg-id-98420.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">decided<\/a> by the Federal Council at its meeting on November 1, 2023.\nThe increase is intended to take account of the development of yields on Confederation bonds as well as shares, bonds and real estate in accordance with the legal framework.   <\/p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-bc87930\" data-block-id=\"bc87930\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">But even an annual return of 1.25 % on your pension assets is low.\nThis is because a low interest rate means that your retirement assets will only grow very, very slowly.\nThis is simple <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smolio.ch\/en\/wissen\/the-compound-interest-effect-your-ally-for-retirement-provision\/\">compound interest mathematics<\/a>.\nYour pension will therefore not be high.\nPrivate pension provision is therefore all the more important the more you are dependent on a pension from the BVG mandatory scheme. On the salary that exceeds this, you save for your future pension both in the AHV and in the pension fund. If your income exceeds the upper limit or is below the coordination deduction, you save extra-mandatory amounts in your occupational pension fund in accordance with the regulations of your pension
